Autistics and Humblekinder

Humblekinder may be a less bad option in the area you live in. But not a good one in my opinion.

SUPERFICIALITY

It talks the talk, but doesn't really walk all the walk... is not truly neuro-affirmative... more a mash-up of  older offerings that have been partly spruced-up, mostly by means of adopting modern words not fully comprehended, superficially, and maybe self-interestedly.

EARLY INTERVENTION

It still pushes the line that "early intervention ... is critical".  No, early acceptance is.  MOST early interventions actually remove a child from contact with their own way of developing (an autistic way forward) that is vital to their quality of life later, and to a wholesome low-anxiety existence.

BEHAVIOURALISM

It still goes on and on about challenging behaviour like autistics were a collection of defects to fix.  All children, ALL, need nurturing and educating, not fixing or therapy, unless at significant risk in respect of some serious matter unable to be resolved by other means.

BRAIN BALANCING

It still has fairly unsupported theories about brain development and "balance".  Autistics develop differently, and we are not designed to be "balanced" or "all-rounders", but "specialists" and "particularists". Fixating on autistics missing Primitive Brain Reflexes obviously misses the point that Autistics have other Brain attributes that a) we love for ourselves, b) impress others, and c) are needed or desirable.

UNDERPINNING

Dr Melillo, a New York clinician, professor, brain researcher, and best selling author who follows older worrisome and harmful "ASD" theories and personal unproven "brain" theories is Humblekinder's hero.  Not mine.

RATIONALE

"I̷f̷ y̷o̷u̷ w̷a̷n̷t̷ t̷o̷ c̷h̷a̷n̷g̷e̷ b̷e̷h̷a̷v̷i̷o̷u̷r̷,̷ t̷h̷e̷n̷ w̷e̷ m̷u̷s̷t̷ c̷h̷a̷n̷g̷e̷ t̷h̷e̷ b̷r̷a̷i̷n̷"

~̷ D̷r̷ R̷o̷b̷e̷r̷t̷ M̷e̷l̷i̷l̷l̷o̷

I would instead say:

"If you want to nurture an autistics way of being, then you must enter their world with permission to understand and accept.  Environment (things) and Ecology (people) must change how they are to autistics."

~ 𝙉𝙤𝙩 Dr Melillo

CONCLUSION

I would say about 50% of what they offer is mildly or significantly likely to be found of some benefit, their pricing is reasonable, but I'd given them a miss anyway.  It might be safer and more thorough to listen to OT, SLP, PT, Music, Drama, Movement Therapists who are not behaviourally-fixated, qualified people who do collaboration, expression, communication, sleuthing, freeing, and neurodivergent-support-on-purpose (i.e. are "neuroaffirmative" heart ).
